Volvo AD31 penta dipstick

Has anyone tried changing dipsticks….the only one Volvo provide is now flat and doesn’t fit, only if you put an attachment on. I can’t see how this works….any clues guys? Both dipsticks have had the ends broken in the past, as I guess people have tried to check the level without opening the hatch fully.

My AD31 dipsticks are really bendy, ie flexible and need to be to bend around the limited "head" room available!
They are flat and not round.
The boat is a 2001 model.

I'm confused. My AD31's had flat bendy dipsticks too.
What is this attachment you have? Any chance of posting a photo or part number?

I think the old dipsticks were round rod with the ends crimped where you read the oil level. Volvo don't supply them any more so if you need a new one it's made of flat flexible steel and you need a new dipstick tube and fixings too.

Hmm. Mine was 1994 and flat, so something mist have changed in between.
