VOLVO 290DP RAM LEAK

Hi everyone
Just noticed i have a small oil leak coming out of the one ram,can i just unscrew the front of the ram and pull the shaft out and replace the shaft and seals?? what i dont know is if i have to take the housing right off the shield to do it,and that would be a nightmare because the pin is on the inside of the boat,,,,thanks in advance

Hi and welcome.

You could indeed do as you suggest if only you could buy a ram. As far as I know Volvo make you buy the whole unit of ram, cylinder and seals together = megabucks.

John, at SMS Salcombe may be able to help, as together we've just managed to repair a pair of rams and refit them in our original cylinders.
