Volvo 2030 air filter

FFS it's only a bit of foam! - there must be a more economic way of replacing it.

Suggestions please.

Yes, my 2030B has never had an air filter. Still works. Can anyone beat that one?

You dont really need one my Perkins engine which is what the Volvo is based on has never had one.

The trouble is that it has got a bit chewed up.

The engine compartment is so clean maybe I will do without it as well.

I ran mine for many hours without one because it had fallen apart. don't think it needs one as the air in the engine compartment is quite clean. However I "paid the price" and bought a new one thinking it might reduce the noise a bit, but could not tell any difference.

My Perkins M92B has a super high performance air filtration as standard. They must be fitting it for a good reason. It has two levels of filtration with one filter inside the other. My engine room is clean but after a year or so, the inbuilt pressure switch trips to tell me the filters are dirty and need changing. I would have thought good air filtration would help extend engine. life

That may be so, but the 2030 in question has a simple bit of thin foam which falls apart easily. My 2030 had over 3500 hours on it when I sold it with no signs of wear. Most of the running time it is producing less than 20hp so in a different league from your engine.
