volvo 2003 yet again Distribution pipe

While I have the head off I have decided to remove and clear the cooling water distribution pipe. I have removed the retaining clamp from the blanking off end but the cap is reluctant to come off, can anybody tell me if it is just amatter of knocking it out from the other end wit a suitable dia drift or dowel.

Yes, it should come out with a tap. The orientation of the pipe is important. Also check the external pipe onto the exhaust elbow for blockage. This reduces flow even when the engine is closed and the thermostat is closed.
