Volvo 2003 pencil anode

Decided to change the pencil anode on the Volvo 2003 on our new-to-us boat. Never done one of these before, but I can’t find it! From all the videos on YT I was expecting to see it on the front left side but nope. There is a water temp sensor, could that be fitted it’s place? It’s a raw deal after cooled variant.

On my 2002 it was on the front on the seawater cooled one but the freshwater cooled one didn’t have one, if that’s any help.

ITYWF that it is fitted to the cylinder block .... (not the same as the 2001 and 2002)

Your owners manual shows you the location

The anode on the 2003 is below and behind the alternator.

It's just about the only difference between the 2001 and 2002 and the 2003 - barring, of course, the number of cylinders. But the user handbook only shows the position for the 2001 and 2002, without mentioning that the 2003 is different! The first time I bought one, the Volvo guy warned me about it.

I think that when you remove the zinc you have saltcwater drain out and onto that bracket that goes port to stbd to hold the engine mounts. This salt water eventually, corrodes that bracket so throw fresh over it or drain the block before hand..
