Volvo 2002 sea water pump question

Having nothing to do this week-end I decided to strip the sea water pump on my Volvo 2002, as it had been dripping from the back for some time. As suspected it was only one of the seals which I will get this week. However on clearing up the table, after stripping the pump, I found a small o ring and do not know where, in the order of re-assembly it goes. It obviously goes on the shaft as some sort of oil seal. Any one know where it goes please and serious answers only!

As another volvo 2002 owner thanks for the link to the manual. I've been after something like this for 3 years!!!! The motor's 22yrs young and hopefully will stay this way with less quess work and some detailed instructions...... especially what NOT to do!!!!
