Hi All,

Just discoverd to today that my dear poxy engine has sprung an little oil leak.

It seem to be coming from were the starting handle rod that potrudes from the engine there seems to be a rubber seal there..

The Question ?

Is it a sod to do?

Is it expensive?

Can I do it myself?

Or is it time to send the bloody thing to the scrappy. Apart from the tiny oil leak it runs just fine but with so many horrible storys about the 2002 my toes are always curled up in me boots waiting for the thing to go bang!!!

Any info greatly apprecaited

cheers Maha (malc)

dont know the engine but as a general rule of thumb, lipped seal removal, get a small thin screwdriver, bash it gently down the outside edge of the seal and distort the thing so that you can hook it out, take it down to your nearest bearing seal /motor factors and they will for a really modest sum produce a new one. find a tubular thing, socket, tube spanner, tube that fits nicely flat against the outside circumference of the new seal, put a smear of gasket sealant on the circumference, put a dollop of grease in the lip of the seal and than offer up to the hole, gently tap with the round found tool until the new seal t is driven back into the housing, voila
