Volunteer out yesterday chasing a speeder

IMHO all excellent fellows. They towed us home last year when our diesel went sludgy, never asked for anything , never gave unasked for advice. Was very happy to send them a donation after.
Also, I understand that the blokes provide ALL their own personal gear at their own cost.

i changed my mind about then possibly 4 yrs ago.
i thought them to be just out for a jolly at week ends.
a chap fell from his dinghy whilst boarding his moored boat. he was i think trapped under water.
they bought him into Fox`s laid him on a pontoon & worked on him 20 minutes until the paramedics arrived all to no avail & all very sad.
They are brilliant but are underfunded raising their own funds

To judge by the traffic on CH16, Volunteer seemed to spend a lot of time yesterday involved in chasing jetskis playing in the shipping channel, following a request from Harwich VTS.

they work closely with Thames CG , Harwich Hbr VTS & Ipswich Port Control

Still wondering what that means "working closely".
Do they have the right to "enforce speed limits".
Enforce strikes me as the ability to wield power over others.

I think it's a great idea in every other respect than this "enforce" stuff.
Strikes me like a group of adult Sea Cadets helping folks out of trouble

14:04 Apprehended both crafts - RHIBS south of the Mulberry Buoy in position 52 00 588 N 001 116 67 E (1) 7m Grey Sponsons / white cuddy / A-frame, 2 POB. (2) 5.85m Blue sponsons / white console / A frame, 2 POB.

When Approached both crews refused to identify themselves or recognise our authority as bestoed on the FVCPRS by all relevant Agencies, but did admit to breaking the speed limit. When advised of the speed restrictions and bye-laws an elderly male onboard 'RIBQUEST' immediately became extremely abusive and aggresive. At this stage both Thames Coastguard and the ONS were informed and requested to contact Suffolk Police for possible intervention when both RHIBS eventually landed. (POLICE INCIDENT No 240). We did not use our direct Police onboard comms as we wanted our conversations officially logged with the relevant Agencies.

More detailed reports will be forwarded to relevant Agencies for consideration ASAP.

.

What a waste of police time, really?!

there is a speed limit in HH & he rivers, for good reason imho
if the Pro skippers on the Windcats going up to Fox`s can abide by the limits so should leisure craft

Thought they went to Woolverstone & last time one of the cats went past me it was doing 18 knots on AIS and I nearly spilt my beer with the wash that was coming off it...

True

I note this was in their logs.

"failed to recognise our authority as bestowed on the FVCPRS by all relevant Agencies"

They still don't actually state what that authority is.
Do they have a power of arrest and detention more than any other private individual.
I wonder if this is similar to the RSPCA who have for years and years tried to pretend they were some kind of police.

How odd, i'm usually seeing threads on here complaining about mobos going fast and making a wash, but when someone is actually trying to maintain the speed limit, people complain.

I'd have thought that the fact they have police comms onboard says something.

A rib doesn't make much wash unless it's doing about 6 knots off the plane.
