The Vodafone office in Corfu told us that the only GPRS solution was via their special and locked card to use in your PC. Price euro 4,30 per 1 MB download. Later a cosailer claimed that they don't even have a local IP address in Greece!! Any advice and assistance would be appreciated.

I bought an yearly package from them in Corfu earlier this year. Seen the same almost everywhere here.

One year contract - free GPRS card and software. 15meg a month and 15 euro a month. Its enough for emails, weather forecasts and a little surfing each month. If you go over, your billed at something like 1 euro per Meg. Software, is easy to use and shows usage etc. Never had a single hang up with it.

I hear Vodaphone often slagged here, but its the best deal I found in Greece.

I have only been out of contact in a few isolated bays, with hills all around. The coverage is really good, especially considering the terrain here.

Only snag is, you need a Greek address and phone number. Thats not down to the shop - when they call your details through, the main Vodaphone office calls that number to verify the address.

A friendly chandlry owner ( Peters Force 5 just outside Gouvia marina) let me give their address and said I rented a room there. I'm sure you can find someone to help out!

Forget Cosmote Ote, I spent 2 seasons trying to get their PAYGo ( Smile card)internet configured, visited the office 4 times, no help. It will only work on fixed phone line but they don't have the savvy to tell you that.
When I went to Vodafone and bought a Simm card they only asked for my passeport. Ote asked for nothing.

Strange but I've just bought a new card in Italy. I had to use a friends passport and the address from a note pad which advertised a rehablitation home! All for good security!
