We are going to London 25th of july with a Princess 60 (from Amsterdam). Are there, besides London, places that we are able to visit that are worthwhile and also possible to reach with our boat? (Oxford, Windsor?). We are staying a few days at St Kath Dock.

Best

Apart from airdraft/depth. Simply finding somewhere to park will be fun.
Would suggest that the best plan would be to contact some of the big marinas to book a spot on outside pontoons to ensure space over night.Know there is a biggish Pearl up at Bray.
Think Windsor Bridge is around 12.6 " headroom ???????

Your boat looks fantastic!

I'm sure you know what you are doing but once across the sea make sure all persons aboard are wearing coloured gloves at all times in any locks. You can't enter a lock below Oxford without brightly coloured gloves, I believe it is some sort of law in the county of Berkshire.

Er, I'll have you know my Henri Lloyd fingerless rope handling gloves are a subtle shade of grey, thank you very much!!

Never actually worn them though - what a good purchase in haste boat show decision that was :)

So basically the forum consensus is....we think that a P60 might get to the moorings the other side Teddington and that really is about it ???????
Only a very confident and brave skipper would take a boat of that size much further Dutchdan.

You will need to come up at mid tide to clear the tidal bridges especially Hammersmith. Comfortably and easily you will get as far as Hampton Court on the non tidal stretch. After that then things get a little bit sticky. Years ago a very famous British Comedian had a 60' Princess and he always said that Hampton Court was as far as he would ever take his boat.

No reason not to go as far up as Shepperton lock , no low bridges before there ( dessy cut should be fine ) I imagine getting it through chertsey bridge might be a challenge though. There was a Princess 22m at teddington a few years back that I used to crew occasionally , I'm sure we got up further than HC

Indeed we never took it above HC as the owners would only ever show for an hour if I remember correctly! nice earner though..

With everything off I reckon you will make this side of Windsor (sorry Eton) bridge.

Old Windsor lock cut will be sticky I think Richard?

Indeed it will!!! I guess it all depends on how much they are going to take off but yes all bridges will be tight and I had forgotten about that hidden jem..a case of seeing how far you can get!

I know you can (just) about turn a 22m in Tedd lock cut as we did just that with the one Tedd lock was talking about.

I guess it depends on the air draft of the princess with everything folded down , look at the bridge heights and more so than ever remember that they are calculated from headwater. Need the OP to give an air draft figure or we are just guessing.
