Visitors to the Colne

Wivenhoe SC normally welcomes visitors to its (tidal) pontoons but it seems that due to the building works nearby the fishing boats who normally dock above the barrier will have to continue using the pontoons at least until the summer. Nobody is happy about this, least of all the fisherman, but we hope normal service will be resumed later in the year. There might be the odd slot available, but anyone coming up should be prepared to go on to Rowhedge if they want to visit the area.

Thanks for this. Can you dry out at Rowhedge these days? Seem to recall being warned off a few years ago due to debris on the river bed.

There is a new euro-pontoon just up-river of the pub for visitors and I think the mud looks OK. I'll walk round when it stops raining & look.
