Anyone thinking of taking a boat up to Snape might like to know that berthing options have become somewhat limited since the arrival, last week, of the Dutch Barge/houseboat Onderneming.
As can be seen in the photo, she is occupying a considerable space alongside the quay. The only remaining ladder is at the downriver end of the space between the 95ft houseboat and the SB Cygnet. There is a smaller space astern of Onderneming but there is no ladder, just the semi-derelict landing stage, once used by the now defunct trip boat.
I understand that the Onderneming has had to leave her berth at Pin Mill where she had been operated as a holiday let until very recently. She has been added to the Snape Maltings holiday accommodation list so it looks like she will be a fixture at Snape Bridge for a while yet...
