Visiting Gigha

We were arrived in Gigha Thursday afternoon and on going ashore met a chap (possibly Colin?) who took our £12 and gave us the run down on what was happening with the jetty and pontoons. Serious amount of work done and still to be done.
Had an excellent (first class) meal in the Boathouse. Wasn't cheap by any standards but superbly cooked and the staff were just great.
Left yesterday at 8am for the Mull. Tied up in Colintraive 8pm extremely tired having sailed almost all the way.

I do like Gigha. Very laid back - and just beautiful....

I do own a selection of garb which can be layered for warmth depending on the elevation of the grouse moor. It works remarkably well at sea level too you know.

You're in no position to complain about lack of hardiness in others unless you only ever sail in shorts and t-shirt. Multi-layered clothing systems forsooth!

Do you by any chance sail the Moody we saw arrive at Colintraive around that time ? Hope you had a good voyage

Your will have had the same grandstand view of Waverley going through the narrow Kyles gap at full speed, and back again 15 minutes later.
(Impressive sight, but wouldn't want to be coming the other way when she piles through at 14 knots - as tracked on our AIS. Clearly not one to slow for the Kyles, like I thought the advice was for power boats)

Indeed it was us - the Waverley gave a good toot before going through. Friday night booze cruise. She was back again on Saturday pm when we went back to our mooring.

Claysie.... Ballycastle? It's a Moody no a rocket ship like Claymore. Still enjoying Daneland?

Coincidence - we were anchored a little closer to the narrows at Eilean Buidhe when we saw you, and sailed past in the morning

That's a good spot to anchor with a northerly or easterly. Have you been ashore to the Sculpture park there? Some interesting pieces last time we went ashore.
As for powerboats and speed limits in the Kyles..

First time we had anchored there - but was the most sheltered when we arrived at around 4pm (was pretty breezy at Kames). Sadly the dinghy was out of service, having failed further south, so didnt get ashore.
