Does anyone know what a safe airdraft for a yacht visiting Dinan is. I have been told that there are some powerlines across the R. Rance on the way upstream but have been unable to find the height of them above the water.

Has anyone visited recently that can help?

"Shell Channel Pilot" Page 298 Bridge 23 & 18.9 - Power cable 16m. I would be more worried about depthfrom Lyvet to Dinan approx 1.4.

Re: River Rance to Dinan

Pont St Hubert 23m, Lessard Viaduct 18.9m, power cable above Chatelier lock 15m.
See pilot book or chart, yawn . . .

Yeh, me too!!! Difficult enough in a dinghy the last time we went up from the little marina. Had to stop every so often to clear the huge ball of weed from the prop. Don't fancy trying it in a cruiser unless it's very shallow draft - or they've dredged it - which I doubt!!

the River dries above St Suliac but is navigable with 1.6m draft. Le Chatelier lock opens when depth exceeds 8.5m (there'll be 2m in the approach) but you need more tide to reach Dinan itself.

Worried? Only if lacking your CEVNI cert . . .

Suspect your reply was for the original poster? I've been there half a dozen times .........and have a CEVNI cert! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
