I use the free version a lot and find it really useful and was just having a quick look at what the one off £25 membership could offer and it looks well worth it. Anyone paid for the upgrade and found it worthwhile?

Excellent bargain ALL UK charts for 25% of the outrageous cost of buying a single local area chart from Raymarine. All you need is a GPS aerial with usb for the laptop.

From the terms on the website:

Expiry and Replacement: You are licensed to use this package for one year from the date that you purchased it.

Does anyone know whether they actually stop working after 12 months?

If so, I'd rather stick to my Memory Map and/or Maptech versions of the same charts and try to load them in the nice-looking Marine Navigator software.

No - I think they dropped the 'annual' license last year. It's perennial as far as I know. Mine still works 2 years on anyway... :) They are very good IMHO.

They state a one off payment of £25 for life membership. I'm about to upgrade coz for that little, it's gotta be worth it imo.

Maybe, using Visit My Harbour, you could capture (copy) an image and save it to your computer
Perhaps, you could then paste multiple images into a single image.
Then (maybe) you could load them into a navigation package - perhaps using Memory Map
Then, maybe, an application like (perhaps) Memory Map could geo-reference them.
Then, maybe, someone could write a program to output the geo referenced charts to BSB format
Then the generated charts could be loaded into OpenCPN and used as a fully blown chartplotter

That would make the £25 well worthwhile - IMO

All theory - of course!!

Hello, Steve from VisitMyHarbour here. Just thought I'd jump in and clear up any misunderstandings..

The OP was talking about (life) membership for £25. This gives ongoing ONLINE access to "Full Screen" charts, Tidal Stream atlases and monthly tide tables on an ongoing basis. They are kept up to date automatically, and membership doesn't expire.

VMH also design and make "For Nav" chart packages for Windows, using either SeaClear chartplotter (our best seller) and also for OpenCPN and Polar Navy. Prices from £29.50. These are physical products, either on DVD or USB dongle. They don't expire or self destruct !

Finally, VMH has also started making downloadable UK chart packages for "Marine Navigator" Android app. Our biggest trade customers "London Chart Plotters" are actually selling 7" Android GPS tablets with our licensed charts for under £100 on ebay or their own site.

It's just important not to confuse Membership of the website with the other "For Navigation" packages that we make and sell.

Thank you to all YBW forumites for your support and custom.

Been using the GE overlay thingy and it's great. Just find the whole site really handy to have at your fingertips tbh. Gets a big thumbs up from me anyway.
