Visiball radar reflector-any good

My new boat has one of these http://www.piplers.co.uk/582/Visiball-RADAR-REFLECTOR.html at the top of the mast, I've done a bit of googleing and cant find a lot about them, has anyone got any experience of these? Or is it like antifouling-useless but at least you've shown willing!

Or even a little worse than some.

in the MCA radar report, the tri-ball (a similar construction) comes out well, but I would expect the two lens version to have greater separation of lobes.
