There have been a number of threads or comments on use of electronics and software to effect mooring in a slip and/or anchoring in a specific location.

Here is yet another take

Conventional Vs. Virtual Anchoring — Salt Water Sportsman

Its getting closer to be used by someone near you.

I did try, but seemingly your link can only be opened by signing my life away to an 🍎. I'll just stick to conventional anchoring in the real world of mud and sand.

Apologies Norman,

I did not appreciate the link was restricted - it appeared in front of me, I opened the link - which worked and being a Scot I certainly did not sign my life away.

Not quite true

We have slowly become a Mac (or Apple) couple - iPhones, iPads and I have a, now - rather dated, MacBook - so now that I think about it - by joining we have been slowly committed ourselves. The other benefit - all the software seems recognisable (and being of mature years - that's a real advantage).

I did have a ferret around and came up with this link:

New Electric Trolling Motors for Salt Water | Salt Water Sportsman

The concept is from Simrad and Lawrence and appears to focus on their electric trolling outboard motors and with the soft ware you can hold your vessel stationary (as you fish)

Electric outboards seem to have developed behind my back - I need to get out more.
