Following on from my ealier post re blockage - Thats fixed now with a good flushing, and I've got it running nice and sweet. However I now have a problem with the 'Sound Absorber' box. In a perfect world, cooling water comes from the water pump, into the bottom of this big box bolted to the exhaust port - out the top into the top of the cylinder head, and thence out of the bottom of the block.
... It doesn't - I have a leak in the cooling jacket of this box into the exhaust part with a probability of it leaking into the cylinder itself. The box itselve is a solid lump of aluminium alloy and short of cutting it into little pieces seems impossible to fix

What if.... I leave this box uncooled and pipe coolling water straight from the pump into the top of the cylinder head .. Has anyone else done this ????

I am in the process (between fitting a kitchen, and building a greenhouse) of mounting a Vire 7, and all the problems Iget are answered by this fella: web page good luck, but it sounds like a bit of cannibalising may be needed.

sorry but you can't run without cooling the exhaust manifold. I would expect it to warp pretty quickly if not.

Second water into cylinders is a definite recipe for disaster ..
