Vinyl wrap type covering on veneered ply?

Tech' question for the experts. Does the wrap need to be wrapped around an edge of the wrapped item so that the cut edge is hidden or can it be cut so that the edge is on show. If so won't it start to peel up along the edge? Hope this makes sense

It is more durable if the edge is isn’t on show but if you use the correct primer it sticks pretty damn well. To the point it will pull the lacquer / some of the plywood “flakes” off if you try and remove it.

So is the primer only needed on wood, not metal or painted metal?

If you are covering a hard, non porous surface like a laminate, varnished surface, painted surface, plastic etc you should use the solvent based primer on all the edges and difficult bits where you need maximum adhesion.

If you are covering a porous surface like raw MDF you should use the water based primer over the whole lot.

The vinyl sticks well to a hard surface without primer, but it sticks incredibly well with the primer to the point where it’s difficult to get off again after you have pressed it down.
