Vinyl cleaner?

somehow, (??swmbo - although not owning up??) my red ensign, which was left rolled around the staff on my rear (white) vinyl seat has left a red stain. Despite resorting to neat bleach in an attempt to remove said stain, stain still exists. Any advice on how this may be removed would be greatly received.

I used a Brillo pad to get marks off my vinyl which nothing else would shift. Try using it on one small area and see what happens. Don't press too hard until you are sure it is not damaging the vinyl.
PS This worked for me an my vinyl. Do this at your own risk.

Sounds a bit iffy to me. Brillo is steel wool and could leave behind little bits of steel that will cause rust spots.

You could try Java hand-cleaning towels. These have taken all sorts of gunk off my hands and clothes so worth keeping on the boat as well.

yes, there's also a big yellow plastic canister of "oil wipes" probably a similar thing.

I can report that using vodka does nothing much on vinyl. However, acetone is fantastic but in large quantities you may need a new seat. Or, get a nice towelling cover made then no more cleaning vinyl ever, just put the towlling covers on at the start of the season and that's it.
