We are in the process of buying a Nimbus 380 which has a flybridge with a clear plastic windscreen, the sides of which fit in Stainless frames, although the top edge is unframed. I think it is either acrylic or polycarbonate. The screen is a little hazy and there is some crazing near the top edges.
We are considering having a tint film applied partly for aesthetic reasons and in part to hide the crazing.
Any views welcome please.
We have been told that normal self adhesive film causes acrylic to gas and that an intermediate layer might be required but we do not want to lose visibility through the screen.

It could well be easier to just replace the existing screen with new acrylic with the desired tint. It's easy to get online and very easy to cut/drill with regular power tools. Use the existing panels as a template. The cut edge polishes easily with a file then wet and dry sandpaper until you are happy.

Or have them made. If they are curved you companies that work with these materials can use the old as a mold. I had some parts done on my targa 40.
They heat the new part and than drape it over the old part to match the curves.
Not relevant on a flybridge I gues but I find that dark windscreenlook good but take away a lot of visibility when boating in less than perfect weather.

If the concern is the flybridge screen I would have expected that you would be looking over rather than through it for most purposes and, if so, a little cosmetic darkening would not be an issue.

Yep, they are typically wind deflectors that you look over, rather than windscreens that you look through.

....

+1, look for a local acrylic publicity panel maker,
there is one opposite my business, he re-made one of my FB panels
you must have similar co's in UK

Many thanks to all of you for taking time to advise. The answer is obvious now, leave well alone and replace with clear or maybe lightly tinted acrylic when the existing looks too tatty.
