Since my last post my plans have changed and I'm thinking of taking my Princess (well Marine Projects) 33' down to Lowestoft via Hull and then across the southern North Sea to Ostend. Twin Ford Mermaid 80's on shafts. The SD Hull lets me cruise at around 8 knots - anything over that and the stern sinks ever further into the trough made by the bow wave and she burns loads of fuel without going much quicker.

I can live with the speed but would appreciate thoughts on whether the passage is a realistic one for the boat (in good conditions only!)

No probs even singlehanded (are you?) as stopping halfway gives you plenty of flexibility.
Did similar Channel crossings recently even when the gps failed!
PM for more.

Not a problem, my first boat was a Marine Project 31 cruising at 7 knots in the Bristol Channel before GPS, Decca and was interesting at times especially the spring tides!

Hi
what time of year are you thinking of coming to Lowestoft, as I am always interested in meeting up with people and mabe joining them its better to go across the oter side in tandam.

Should be no problem for the boat as long as you watch the weather. Main concern, you say via Hull so presumably from Trent or Ouse. If the boat has been on the rivers for a while, make sure no s--t in tanks that will stirr up & block filters as soon as you hit a bit of sea.
