I have (well, the kids have) opened the old liferaft, it was 10 year old, last check three years ago; it remained well inflated for one day, the second one after a cold night it was a bit deflated, the third day it was even more deflated, though I reckon the manual inflator can easily cope (we used it later to reinflate the whole thing, now a roofless swimming pool)

I have recorded a small video, if you don't like screaming kids just switch the audio off, I have not bothered putting subtitles as all comments are absolutely silly

I photographed my liferaft as I unpacked it, I inflated it and checked it, had the bottle checked, replaced the contents of the emergency bag and refolded and packed it, using the pictures as a guide. I'd rather know what state it was in myself that trusting anyone else to service it.

It is a Bombard, last serviced three years ago. I have the imlpression that more than the original brand the difference is made by the servicing station: a good servicing station imho is a lot more important than the brand

or in other words: there are at least two cases I personally know of Bombard rafts at the end of their life (like mine) that have barely opened, not even one tube fully inflated, they would have sunk in a couple of hours /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif


I have put another video with the equipment I found inside the raft, sorry it's in italian my english is too poor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I tasted the "emergency food" and I undertstood why they also give seasickness pills, those tablets are *really* disgusting /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
