I was wondering if anybody have used one of the above,
I just bought one and put it on a very low 10 volt leisure batt on high power recondition because it was flat my last outing because my boat all in one system packed up on charger side,
Put it on this morning when I came home about 5 hours later you could fry an egg on the battery it was that hot,
The charger is brand new about to be fitted to my boat but not sure now,

Another question when the battery's are fully charged will it switch off by itself or keep charging.

High power recon is charging a steady 15+v and is usually used for about an hour for desulfation of the lead plates. My guess is you have had it in this mode too long.

In normal mode the current should drop as the battery charges up so it will drop through the stages until it goes into float when the charge just keeps the battery topped up with a very low amperage.

If yours has bluetooth you can check the volt/amps via the app

I thought it was a smart charger and it would turn itself down when done not boil the battery and the charge unit was very hot,

The manual does say "Recondition Max 1 hour" but not clear if that 1 hour is for you to monitor and end the cycle or if it will automatically drop into normal mode by itself. May be worth contacting Victron.

Anybody know if I can leave on normal charge when on power in marina and go out for the day and forget,
Ore must I watch it until fully charged then turn off.
my original all in one consumer unit/charger just plug into shore power and forget that was on my antares 760 and 9 series.

Certainly should be OK to leave on. My 3 output 20a one is connected 24/7 with no problem

Do you have to turn it on or is it automatic when pluged into shore power and do you just leave in on normal charge setting

I just leave it on normal. One output to engine battery, one output to domestic bank, one to gen battery, each one gets supplied with what that bank needs up to a combined total of the 20 amp rating. When I go to boat its on float, led says that and app shows that at a low amperage. If I switch off for an hour or so and switch back on it will start charging for a short time then into float. My previous boat had the single output version and that was the same, lrft on 24/7

My understanding of the manual is that reconditioning is done at a low current and that it will be terminated after 1 hour or when the maximum voltage for the selected mode is reached, whichever is sooner.

3. RECONDITION
Optional reconditioning for deeply discharged lead-acid
batteries.
Reconditioning is applicable to the charge algorithms
NORMAL and HIGH and can be selected by pressing the
MODE button one more time after selection of the required
algorithm.
When in RECONDITION mode the battery will be charged
with low current up to a higher voltage at the end of the
absorption phase.
The RECONDITION LED will be on during charging, and
will blink during the reconditioning period.
During reconditioning the maximum current is equal to 8%
of the nominal current until the maximum voltage is
reached. Reconditioning is terminated after one hour or
when the maximum voltage is reached, whichever comes
first.​

The battery should not have become that hot at the low current used for reconditioning
The reconditioning should have automatically terminated after 1 hour anyway.

I suspect the battery is seriously defective .... shorted cell perhaps ......... and that when the normal charging resumed it took an excessively high current for its size causing it to overheat . As I see it this is a potential pitfall when using a charger with a high maximum current output capability to charge a battery which would not normally be capable of accepting such a high current.
(My own charger allows a maximum current to be selected appropriate to the size of the battery)
