Hi I have a victron mains powered smart 20amp mains charger with three outlets. Only two of them are in use, one for the house and one for the starter battery.

My 50amp alternator doesn’t do a great job of fully recharging my 160amp victron lead carbon battery, so I have fitted a victron Orion 30amp B2B charger.

My question is, when I plug into shore power, and the 20amp mains charger is working, this is also going to trigger the Orion 30 amp unit. Is this a problem?

Thank you very much in advance for any answers.

It will just be a waste of energy, the Orion 30 is not very efficient unlike the newer XS, I have the xs and it has a disable input that can be hard wired, when I upgraded I removed charger from starter battery and just fitted a small trickle charger unit that keeps the starter 0.5 v below house, this and with careful settings of the Orion stop this problem happening

What you really need... is a bigger mains charger and a Sterling A to B alternator charge booster.

Both of which I just happen to have for sale.
