I have fitted a cobra vhf to my Seawych 19.
Receives well and transmit signal is strong. But when keyed up a loud buzz overpowers my voice.
if I touch the mic plug, Ariel plug, mounting bracket or any metal part of the radio when keyed up, it stops and I am heard clearly.
Any ideas on the cause? Or things to try? It worked fine on my last boat.
Any help appreciated.

Could be the earth wire broken in the mic lead? This could be a shielded wire with a broken shield. When you touch it, that sort of makes the circuit that's broken.

What do you mean by "keyed up". Never heard that term.

I doubt it is a broken wire in the microphone cable although this is the most common failure point for VHF radio. I would suggest try a piece of wire from battery negative to the cradle screw or from any part of the boat likely to connect to sea. ol'will
