My handheld radio (Silva S12) has gone a bit strange. I am now picking up calls TO the local harbour patrol and Marina. Usually, (and normally) I hear the marina office and the harbour patrol replying to other boaters, but now I don't - just the calls from boaters TO the marina/harbour patrol.

This is causing problems as I need to call Marina (ch.80) and harbour office (ch.18) to get into locks etc - they seem to hear me, but I can't hear a reply.

Any ideas why this would be?

Persume this is on a duplex channel - if so your S12 has managed to get itself into shore station mode - this is usually set by software in the newer sets.

Perhaps by an arcane set of key presses that you have unwittingly managed - I can only suggest talking to Silva....

I have looked in the quickstart manual and can't see anything relevant, I have misplaced the full manual and I can only find a manual in French to download on the Silva site. - think a call to Silva is needed

Although you are getting duplex effect it is nothing to do with duplex channels. Go back to Silva.
