Why does my VHF click click click.... whenever the instruments are switched on and how do I stop it. Simrad radio and ST60 instruments. Annoyingly its worst on Ch 16 whilst being non existant on other channels. Re routing wires to keep co-ax away from power might be tricky.

You are probably getting some interference from something on board, to get to the route of this problem you will need to turn units off individually until you find the culprit. Is it definately an instrument, it could be a fridge or an electric fan.

I presume you have tried with only the VHF turned on.

When you do find the exact cause you can then consider re-routing cables or screening the offending item. It would be foolhardy for me to attempt to give further advice until the exact cause is determined.

I had a similiar problem and found it was being caused by the fishfinder transducer - but I wasn't able to solve the problem. I know this isn't much help but it might give you some direction as to the cause of the problem

<font color=blue>Assuming you are not moored near a Lock which is sending electronic information to a central computer. Then the next main culprit can be a Plotter. As this updates it can interfere on various VHF channels. Also look to see if there is anything sharing the VHFs power supply which is active and working this too can cause clicking.

<font color=blue>Just a secondary thought... could it be a mobile phone? You know what happens when a mobile is left near a radio or TV.
