VHF Head sets

just a "bye the bye" we have Uhf w/talkies and bought talk to tx (voxon) headsets, (single earpiece and mini boom mic) we have discontinued use of the headsets because the sound of footsteps, let alone an engine will cause them to transmit. Our headsets dont have squelch/or similar, which would allow us to filter these noises out. Maybe a throat mic would be better. You might need to investigate before purchase. Also
as they connect via a cable, it is not possible to use the headset while units are in their w/proof case. Regards Peter.

Some very good points which I had not considered. Main use is for berthing. We have stern controls fitted and are usualy short handed. So only use will be clarification to the stern that bow lines are lifted and locked off prior to winching back onto the berth. Boat nearly 100' so dificult to shout or see the bow from the stern driving position. By the way we are always Med style mooring.

Thanks for some realy good points you raised.
