VHF--HAND HELD OR FIXED

Hey great idea - all for using the boat as test bed.

Unfortunately the fixed VHF went fritz / wibble and ate all the fuses. I currently have dead fixed VHF and microwave and am working out if I should make some modern art or just store them in the green cupboards thougthfully provided by Eastbounre marina.

I might put them on the for sale section under the grounds caveat emporer or something like that.

BTW I have a hand held VHF so the trips is still in the grounds of safe-ish.

One of the quickest ways of killing an antenna is the practice of putting burgees on them. This causes excessive flexing which breaks down the innards.

Using them to gauge the height of bridges not a good idea either

(and yes, I've done that before)
