I'm in the market for a DSC VHF flush mounted and don't want integrated Navtex/AIS. I would be interested to know what model others have and why they were chosen. Thanks as ever.

I have an Icom 505 which is good , apart from a software glitch which Icom have been promising to fix for the last 2 years. It is flush-mounted, but I think most sets can be. The feature that I now regard as almost essential is the remote mic.

Standard Horizon GX 1500. Excellent set, especially with the remote mic installed in the cockpit. First time in more than 20 years I have been able to steer and talk on VHF at the same time. One reason I wanted it was for the audio quality and volume, which has not been disappointing.

Had a small problem in that the remote loudspeaker in the cockpit was not switched using the remote mic. SH replaced the mic free of charge after two seasons, without question. Top product, top service.

which remote command mike do you use and why did you choose this one?

I believe there are 2 available - CMP25 and a VH-310 ...

I have the 3500s radio with the RAM+ remote handset.

They have recently changed all the models so the 3500 has been superceded by the matrix+ I think

I like the idea of a 3 year no questions warranty ( including water damage! )
