Hi Everyone,
Just a quickie question.
Anyone got any recommendations as to the best place to go for the RYA VHF short range radio course in the Mersea/Colchester area?
I know that WMYC offer it but, I have to admit to feeling a wee bit intimidated by the thought of doing it there as SWMBO went in once last year to let them know that one of their peoples boats had come loose and was drifting off into the wild blue yonder and the response she got was less than welcoming.
She may have caught the person on an off day and they are really the friendliest place around but I still feel a bit wary especially as a relatively new mobo'er to boot.

WMYC has jsut sent an email to members saying that it is running a VHF course on 5th May. don't worry about that experience, don't know who you spoke to; everhyone can have a bad day but Jim MacNaughton who runs the course is as friendly as you can get. give the office a ring on 01206-382947 if you are interested.

If it isn't too far away from you, as a suggestion, Anglia Sea Ventures are based in Ipswich. They do a VHF course on Saturdays, I believe. My partner and I did our Comp Crew with them last June and I can't speak highly enough of them. We are new to this sailing pastime and found that they simply underlined all of the good experience we had in contact from the sailing world both at our Sailing Club and on places like here.

I have to book myself on one this Spring and I will be going back to them.

Good luck!
