VHF channel 23 and 23A

I have an Icom IC-M33 handheld which is excellent....BUT...when Stornoway coastguards say "Go to Channel 23 for the local weather forecast" I find that I have channel 23A which doesn't receive the broadcast.
The other nearby are channels 20A,21A and 22Aand the all rest are regular numbers.
Explanation please

Try setting the radio to International channels, rather than USA channels!

I don't have the manual but, through the wonder of the Internet, I have found that holding the CH (channel) key down for one second allows you to get back into International channels. SORTED!!!

....and presumably that's also how you accidentally got into USA mode in the first place. What daft design implementation!

I'm sure that's the case. Totally non-intuitive!!!!!
