VHF Antenna

Hi, I just bought a new Icom M440BB black box VHF radio. I had planned to buy a new Shakespeare 2.4m antenna but I have just noticed that there is a note in the manual saying that an antenna with a recommended max gain of 3dB should be used. Otherwise contact Icom for a revised installation recommendation.
I’m going to email them today but does anyone know if this is going to be an issue?

I think icom are specifying dBd gain and the manufacturer is likely specifying dBi gain - if so then 6 dBi is 3.86 dBd.
