VHF Antenna repair.

A very practical antenna is the half wave antenna where the wire 1/2 wavelength long is cut in the middle with the coax outer going to one side and the inner going to the other side. So this is exactly what you need up the top of the wooden mast with one wire going up for 1/4 wavelength and one wire going down for 1/4 wavelength. Except as I said the down part can be multiple wires or just one. You won't have much choice but to solder the down wire (ground plane we call it) to the coax outer as also you will have to solder the inner to the rod. Unless as I did you flatten the end of the rod and drill a hole for a tiny crimped lug. The other option is to have plenty of cable and tease the centre out of the outer so the outer braid can be the groundplane going down and the centre conductor connected to the rod or going inside a GRP fishing rod section going up.
As you can see an antenna is electrically easy it is the connections insulation and mounting that need your genius. olewill
