My boat has a Vetus rigid plastic fuel tank fitted with their tank connection type FTKITA (or B or C, they just differ in hose sizes).
This - http://www.vetus.com/fuel-systems/c...ction-kit-type-a-supply-return-line-8-mm.html

I have a problem with leakage where it is fitted in the tank. I don't know quite how it is assembled but I know there is a backing ring with tapped holes in it and if you do it wrong you can drop that into the tank!

Has anyone got a pdf of the fitting instructions please? I can't find them anywhere on the web. Probably removed from the Vetus site because this kit is now obsolete replaced by type FTL.

Thanks.

4 years ago I bought a 88 Litre tank, all the holes cut and jig drilled on a milling machine, everything fit like a dream. filled tank till flush with deck filler. leaked like a an old boot.
This year have cut 2 joints , replaced those silly screw with studs, yet to fill and test for leaks. well conceived tank unit but relies on sealing the flanges solely on flange surface and the tight fit of the screws in the plastic.

Its other bit of bad design is that the baffle free flow is far to large, that I hope to overcome is to fit my own weir baffle,(Which I have done but not yet tested).

Now to your problem. take one of the screw out and replace with some I think 6mm stud bar, put a nut on.( remove all pipes before starting) then remove the rest, now hold the stud and lower away. hold internal ring, undo nut, ditto top assembly and spring the ring up through two slots..

Best of luck nice tank but IMHO could have been better engineered.

I have a boat which had 2 Vetus Tanks fitted, I took them out for cleaning. I also stripped the Dashboard (Control Panel) and removed the fuel gauges. I should have marked the wires and which went to where.
I rang Vetus and they were very helpful and the emailed me with a Wiring Diagram.
The backing ring with the holes is a real pain even when you have the tank out and in front of you.
Are you able to get the tank out.

Thank you both.
I managed to bodge my way through it today without losing the backing ring.
I'm fairly sure the leak was where the gauge sensor is fitted in the main cast piece. That has two gaskets either side of a plastic flange, and 5 screws at very very slightly uneven spacing so it will only fit one way which is very difficult to spot.

Further to my post.

Filled tank and watched the fuel dribble out through one screw, even through its got a nylon seal under the nut (Not the Vetus type). Back to the drawing board next year.:disgust:
