hi anyone know if vetus 140 19mm or vetus 330 19mm strainers are both suitable for our engine? just wondering if the compact 140 has enough active surface for the beta 25 as it would fit much easier
thanks in advance

The 140 is suitable for cooling water flow rates from 23 to 51 l/min depending on hose size connections

the 330 is suitable for flow rates from 23 to 200 l/min depending on connection sizes

What does the engine spec say its cooling water flow requirement is?

If less that 51 l/min one of the 140 types will be suitable. If more than 51 you will need one of the the larger 330 types. (with connections greater than 19.1 mm)

If your cooling water hoses are 3/4" or less I guess the 140 will do the business

If you tend to operate in mucky water then over spec your strainer perhaps.

Morning, If the only strainer in the range that has the 'cross on the top' is the 330 then that's what I have on my 25. With the slightly under-rated Heat Exchanger I'd probably not wish to go any smaller if it increased the risk of reduced water flow.

Cheers Chris.

We have a Vetus 330 strainer with a 4 cylinder Yanmar 100 hp engine so your Beta 25 should be fine. I am not sure of our hose diameter on ours but if your engine currently used 19 mm hose then it should not cause a problem. The flow rates for the Vetus 140 appear to be the same so you could probably use the smaller filter and save some space.

The 140 is much the same size as the one that Volvo use on all engines under 40hp, so should be fine
