had the casing oil seal replaced in pump but still slight leak so not sure if job done properly or bodged !
The shaft is fine with no surface damage.
Have taken pump apart again myself and will try to source a suitable seal that will work.
the pump has 5 pistons in it and each has two grooves in their circumference
Should there be o rings fitted to these grooves or is the fit just metal to metal.
Any advice appreciated

On the vetus pump on my boat before last the casing had a porous bit. I stripped the casing and boiled it in a strong solution of fairy liquid to degrease it.

I then brazed the leak area and filled the fissuees with low temperature aluminium brazing rods. I then applied a small amount of filler to fair the surface, sprayed it white and the leak never returned.

You could try a double lip seal if it is the shaft.

This double lip seal dodge is also a good one for the old Volvo sea water pump shaft seals.

Seem to remember a tiny weep when I first replaced a helm pump shaft seal, it might have stopped after some use . ?
