Vesta Beef Curry.

I remember em all too well. It used to be served up every Saturday teatime when I was a yoof. Me Dad used to think he was being sofistikated like and yearned for the day when he surpassed Vesta or cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks and moved on to a proper fondu set like.

Aye, Saturday tea was always Vesta or M&S chunky chicken on toast.

If I recall, the "meat" in those things always had a strangely crunchy, yet slimy texture.

I bought an FB pie for nostalgic reasons and it was truly revolting. Probably have to do the same with a vesta curry.

I'm pretty sure a butterscotch Angel Delight is still as good as I remember, though!

A chum and I, then about 19, once got a bit carried away on finding a good shoreside pub, and woke up the next morning keen to eat something to try to disperse the hangover; all there was on board was butterscotch angel delight !

Not sure I could face it again, 30 years later.

Due to this thread I am now going to have to seek out a vesta beef curry & give it a go, haven't had one for 30 years or so! :)
Will be interesting as I used to like them

I can assure you that beef is one of the smaller contributors to those chewy little squares.
If anyone wants horrifying, I will spell out the manufacturing process from aft to stern.

Lets not go down the 'recovered meat' path right now. Its tea time after all:eek: Folks, you don't want to know.

Tim

I seem to remember Vesta paella from when I was a young sprog trying to eke out an existance on next to sod all money. A lump of margerine in to a pan to melt, tip in the contents of the packet along with about a cup of water. Simmer until the water was absorbed, then eat it straight from the pan to save the washing up!

I would like to find one of these packets purely for nostalgic reasons, but I've never seen them for sale for years.

Memories of youff! :)

used to survive on Vesta Beef Curry, Vesta Chicken Supreme and Vesta Chow Nein on climbing trips in the 70's. The crispy noodles with the chow mein were ace ;-)

I thought all the vesta products were the height of sophistication and that little packet of crispy noodles which you had to fry separately just went to prove it.
