Lots of dire warnings of fatal accidents and boats going up in smoke, but apart from the sensationalism, it is a useless article.

"bridge clearances can be shown in metres or feet above HW, MHWS or MHW"

Well which is it Dick, and how do you find out? Actually on UK charts is meters above HAT, no mention of that at all or where to find out what the reference datum is on the chart.

And anyway, there is no mention of what any of the acronyms mean, as it's a basic article, people may not know.

The photos are of a boards referencing MHWS - in the UK?? An old board if so.

The final thing that would useful that he failed to mention is clearance decimals are after a point, not as a subscript as depths and drying heights are, and it's easy to miss the decimal point. But hey that's just a detail.

Very poor indeed.

C'mon, now, Ellesar me ould fruit. You surely don't expect New Ideas and Creativity fron Our Dick, do you? Part of the boaty establishment, his notions have credence on 1870s boats and, er, that's A

No, that's inappropriate if not rude!! Do please make some allowance for one being A: confused by Android and B: pissed.

FWIW, this is fircking difficult and one had to concentrate more than seems reasonable. Sod it!
