What are very pistols?

Are they a bit like extremely pistols? Or just that "these pistols are VERY...!"

Or... they wouldn't happen to have something to do with the Verey pistol, would they?...

I currently have 2 Verey pistols on board. They come as safety kits in their own plastic case with 6 cartridges. They are plastic pistols with 12 gauge shells, and sold in many chandleries in the US. I think their max height is something like 300 ft, so I would think that a handheld rocket would be much more effective.
