Proper pea-souper here at the moment. However bright sunshine forecast for Bournemouth, Cowes, and all the way back to Portsmouth.

But Bramblemet looking dodgy at 0.2nm viz...is anyone out there who can report any differently?

Where did you get the forecast? Simon said the GFS has ignored the fog for some sciency weathery reason so get a good report from a human before setting out for the Solent if it's that bad.

Just looked at the Poole Weather webcams. Foggy! Bright sunshine where I am 2 miles inland from the harbour.

It's lifted a lot now...bright sunshine in the bay but still some patches around. Still looks very heavy over the harbour entrance though and foghorns sill going.

But good to go after brekky...and shock horror the wind did a 180 about 45 minutes ago and we might get to play with the asymm!

When I awoke yesterday morning in Newtown, the glassy water merged with the fog, like we were in a cocoon. I could not see the shore, only the few other near boats looming eerily out of the grey.

Was woken up yesterday morning by the foghorns of the ships anchored off Dunnose, but it was clear blue sky in Ventnor. The air was incredibly still, though. As we drove up to the boat we could see the fog on the Solent and the chimney at Calshot poking up through it - all cleared by the time we got there though. Mid afternoon the fog was doing some crazy things curling over Tennyson Down, too.
