For how much you have lost say 2k max ,is it worth it , as you may not be able claim for your wife .
As the broker says that the owner won't lower his price then either you pay up or walk away. I cannot really see much mileage in suing the guy.or just lower you offer by the 3k and exps

In that case why not just ask them to assess it for you? If you say you might have a claim the first thing they will do is have a look and see if it is covered and whether there are prospects.I am old enough to know its a waste of time, however I have as part of my marine insurance policy. Legal cover that covers contract, or in this case no contract.!

The owner cannot lay straight in bed..
