Vendée Globe 2016-2017

Fantastic footage, he must be on the limit with his sail plan, charging hard. Let's hope he stays in touch wit Armel till he gets on Starboard and opens up a big gap. Yep ha's on hell of a guy but they all are.

Can only get one of the lower videos to load and it's all about Armel. The first one and most of the others are blank. Enthralling racing though.

Try it without your adblock browser????!!

Great footage although alex only gets a couple of seconds.

Where is the Royal Navy when you need them? Do we have any ships?

Amazing footage! Alex is a total mad man and not even clipped on - especially at 45 seconds when that wave crashes over the deck!! What a legend!

Amazing footage - loved the way the French helicopter zoomed in on the damaged side......they just couldn't resist having a good look :)

Even better was Alex nipping down below to emerge with the British flag ....very James Bond! Loved the the other video of him talking about being on starboard too. He's clearly in fine form and enjoying himself.

Interesting to see how she handles without the foil though....looks like the bow is immersed a fair amount and that must be slowing him. Was also amazed at the sail area he was carrying

+1 ... "Thanks for posting the links" :encouragement:

Blimey, that is an absolutely brilliant (aerial) clip, though I couldn't
see him in the closing frames, as the boat sailed away from camera ..... :ambivalence:

(And, he was looking super-relaxed in the earlier-posted clip, when he referred to the STARBOARD tack ; seriously impressive, when you see how the boat is going).

All that sail up in 28 knots of wind. He said he was pushing a bit....that's a bit of understatement. He sounds in great spirits. Loved the Union Jack flying. Great footage.

He's definitely pushing the boat hard on port to keep up with Armel, but if he stays in touch then, when they get onto starboard, he has a chance to take the lead again. Must be tough for Armel having a wounded boat keeping pace, and at times reeling him in. Incredible stuff. Just sailing round the world is impressive - to do it flat out racing, with another prizefighter constantly pushing you to go faster is mental!

At one mile they will clearly be able to see each other as individuals as opposed to specs on the horizon, just imagine the different emotions and thoughts going through each of their minds.:encouragement:

Unfortunately, although they're within a mile of each other in race distance, there seems to be about an 8 mile lateral gap between them so I doubt they'll make visual contact unless they converge. Great racing though. They have some mettle these blokes.

He's going 3 knots faster. If he stays in this breeze whilst Armel drops off the back....

Absolutely amazing stuff from the man in black!
