I had a spare space in a new instrument panel that I filled by fitting a VDO helm indicator, I don't have a sender unit for it but would like to centralize the indicator, is it possible to use a resistor to do this, if so what value and how could I do it? instruments are 24v connections are +, -, G.

Please don't say buy a sender unit.

The easiest way would be to wire a potentiometer between the negative and G terminals, and adjust it until you get a central reading. I think you'll need a resistance of about 2K to 3K ohms to centralise the needle, so probably best to buy a 5K potentiometer. If you specify a linear track potentiometer, it'll be easier to adjust. About a quid from Maplin.
