Anybody know of a source of spare parts for VDO instruments?
In particular, my rev counter supplied by Volvo but actually manufactured by VDO has a digital engine hour meter incorporated in it, and the LCD has failed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Alan,

You may well find the display has not failed. These instruments are VERY suseptible to damp, causing the display either to flicker very quickly, or vanish altogether.

If so, replacement will simply be a waste of money.

Two ways of checking. Wait till summer when the temperature rises (hopefully....), or take the instrument out and put it into your airing cupboard for a week.

If I'm right, the engine hours will still be counted - it's only the display that's not working.

Let me know what the outcome is.

Thanks for the advice guys. As I shall be at the London Boat Show next week, I'll take the unit out tomorrow and leave it in the warm for a week .......... I'll let you know the outcome.

If I can't get it working again, then I'll just install a separate hour counter (analogue) below decks and leave it at that !!!

Thanks again,
Alan.
