As above- I have been using Ronseal exterior water based satin finish varnish on the interior of my boat with some success. It is easy to apply, dries quickly appears to be quite durable and leaves very satisfying finish. I’m thinking of using the gloss version of the same product on the boat exterior, principally the wheelhouse doors which are altered to an extent. Does anyone have experience of using this product outside?

I use the satin version on my teak faced ply washboards, other wooden details and the dinghy oars. It lasts well, typically giving three years life - although I do cover my boat over winter. I have also used it on the saloon table with good results. Bear in mind that it is a flexible covering that remains very slightly tacky - not enough for you to notice by touch, but my washboards tend to stick together when they are in place.
