varnish

Hehehehehe, I'm not exactly a lightweight mesel'

I once tried the burgess stuff on my deck, regreted it!

Might try it (new stuff) though on something that isn't seen!

I've tried a multitude of different stuff, but now swear by Coelan for masts, toerails and difficult to get at to sand areas, Epifanes for other parts, like cabin sides etc, which are easy to sand/prepare.

Don't and I repeat DON'T use Burgess on it's own it will wear off and discolour. It is a great colour and UV protection for teak used as a stain but, it needs the clear gloss on top to protect it and even that is not very hard wearing. I dont care what they say about using it on decks IMHO it's the wrong stuff for that, but for quick easy to repair pieces it's super!

Having said that I have used these products on the floor of the cabin it is now 3 years old and could do with a re coat. The beauty of this is it can be done in one day!

"Only use foam brushes"

So I take it the fights off..good pass the Port instead /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got any stilton to go with it? Slurp, slurp!

Might think of using it as a base coat to put varnish over, have to have a look at the stuff.

Colin.

Now that you two have fought ad made up (!) thank you for the advice.
I reckon I was right all along - there ARE as many ways to varnish as there are wooden boats.

Nope! Only one way to varnish, thats with varnish, the rest are coatings! You haven't been listening!! tee hee

well, i've now done 4 coats of VARNISH with progressively less thinners and it looks normal and not too streaky so my method is now the official onmyboatvarnishstyle.
Will add at least 2 more coats 24 hours apart.
