I'm refitting our very small utility room and have decided to fit plywood doors and worktop. I'd like to varnish it with something that's very clear, if that makes sense? If possible, I'm looking for something hard and satin finish.
Any recommendations?

I, and a number of others have used Ronseal Diamond Satin. It's water based, but it's made for floors, so pretty hard wearing. IIRC, the clear one doesn't darken the wood like a polyurethane varnish
The water based ones are pretty good if you don't want a high gloss. Very quick to apply, 20 minute overcoat time, no smell. I have only used the B&Q Diamond Hard version but that seems good.

Many thanks for the replies, I think I'll be looking at the Ronseal diamond product. I'll try to remember to post any results on here.

Used Ronseal for the floor boards very good results. Had to order it via Amazon in order to get it in Germany....might be difficult in future to get it again....thanks to B.......

I've said in past that I like to see how things have turned out. Although not 100% finished, here is my use of the Ronseal Diamond floor varnish.
Many thanks and a great new year to you all.
