Off to La Trinite from Dun Loaghaire at the end of July and was thinking about making it up to Vannes. The boat draws 2.4m (8 feet) - will this be a problem?

Also does anyone if theres any car hire service available in La Trinite?

We are at Arzal.

Vannes is as follows:

Wet dock kept at 2.4m. Outer port 1.8m in low water. When crossing the sill: consult the level marker before crossing it. OK!

Vannes is great. At 2.4m you will need to go up just before HW - give the HM's office a call, they were very helpful a couple of years ago to me. Numbers in all the pilot books.

Wish I was back there!
It will not be the easiest place to approach with your draft. La Questy at the entrance to the G du B is easy, but a bit soul-less. Noirmoutiere, a bit further south is an interesting port of call.
For car hire, have you looked at any of the websites: Eurocar etc. they usually list their bases, prices etc.
